Cat. #000811221: JOHN CARRADINE

Original 7.5 x 9.5-inch black and white publicity portrait as villainous, chain-smoking Captain Delmar in the 1937 crime drama Love Under Fire, signed and inscribed to inveterate collector Efraim Gonzalez in the 1980s. Trimmed down from 8x10 inches to remove the borders for framing purposes; otherwise, in good condition, with minor corner wear. Decidedly sinister-looking American character actor John Carradine's seemingly endless list of horror and science-fiction roles include a villager in The Invisible Man (1933), a cult organist in The Black Cat (1934), a hunter in Bride of Frankenstein (1935), Dr. Von Altermann in Revenge of the Zombies (1943), Toby in Voodoo Man (1943), Dr. Drury in The Invisible Man’s Revenge (1944), Yousef Bey in The Mummy’s Ghost (1944), Professor Gilmore in Return of the Ape Man (1944), Dracula in House of Frankenstein (1944) and House of Dracula (1945), Dr. Randolph in The Face of Marble (1946), Dr. Noymann in Invisible Invaders (1959), the old drunk in Curse of the Stone Hand (1964), Andre Desard in House of the Black Death (1965), Tristam Halbin in Dr. Terror’s Gallery of Horrors (1967), Dr. DeMarco in The Astro-Zombies (1968), Satan in Autopsia de una Fantasma (1968), Professor Cummings in The Mummy and the Curse of the Jackals (1969), Dr. Halbeck in Diabolical Pact (1969), George the butler in Blood of Dracula’s Castle (1969), the Nazi doctor in Enigma de Muerte (1969), Dr. Favel in Madame Death (1969), Dr. Goolie in Blood of the Iron Maiden (1969), Dr. Rynning in Horror of the Blood Monsters (1970), Boone Hawkins in Five Bloody Graves (1970), the Judge of Hell in Honey Britches (1971), Christopher Dean in Legacy of Blood (1971), Dr. Vanard in Blood of Ghastly Horror (1972), Llewellyn Crossbinder in The Night Strangler (1973), Claude Dupree in Terror in the Wax Museum (1973), the hotel clerk in The Cat Creature (1973), Edgar Price in The House of Seven Corpses (1974), Charlie Towman in Silent Night, Bloody Night (1974), Mary’s father in Mary, Mary, Bloody Mary (1975), Fr.
